We're taking a short break for the festive season and will reopen on Thursday, 2nd January

Provenance, environment & sustainability

Protecting our natural resources and respecting the environment is very important to us.

As a responsible business, we are committed to making wise choices about the way we operate, the policies we follow and the impact we have on where we live and work.

Provenance

People increasingly care about what they buy and where it comes from. So do we. As we supply a natural product, we like to think we have a little bit of a head start. Owning as well as operating our quarries on the famous Lincolnshire limestone belt gives us control and flexibility that other companies may not be able to offer. We can guarantee reserves for the next 30 years, offering consistency and continuity to all our customers. We’re proud of our contribution to British manufacturing and the local economy, and of our ability to give people an alternative to mass produced or imported stone that may be cheaper but at what cost to the environment?

Environment

We’ve made every effort to implement processes which are environmentally friendly: we harvest rainwater and recycle 100% of the water used in production thanks to our filtration plant. 95% of our block stone never travels more than 20 miles to our production site and we take care of 85% of our haulage in house, using a modern fleet with efficient Euro5 diesel engines so we’re able to combine journeys where possible to save fuel. We also collect pallets on return loads, repair where necessary and reuse. Our restoration programme takes into account ways to conserve soil with designated areas for seeding and plants to enhance the landscape and protect biodiversity so that in the future, you won’t know we’ve been here.

Sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of our business. Natural stone reflects unique character with variations in colour, pattern, and texture, giving it visual interest and intrigue. No harmful chemicals, toxins or pollutants are released from it. It has whole life value including low embodied energy, no off-gases, high thermal capacitance and incredible durability. When you choose natural stone, you are showing responsibility and respect for the earth’s resources so it’s reassuring to know we share your desire to preserve, restore and improve the environment. From recycling waste material to keeping energy usage low, promoting a paperless office to making mindful decisions about travel, we continually seek to improve the way that we work for the greater good. If you’d like to know more, we’d be happy to share our environmental policy with you. Just ask one of our friendly team.
